Shared hosting or Dedicated hosting (which is more common?)?

I offer shared web hosting (djlsolution.com) with packages that range from free to unlimited for less then $5. To me that seems like a great deal to host a website but I am wondering how many people use dedicated servers or virtual private servers instead and pay anywhere from $20 to $150.

Do you pay more then $5 for hosting? and why?

I have many dedicated servers, but I also offer hosting and run quite a few websites.

And there is no such thing as unlimited hosting, especially bandwidth/diskspace -wise. Resources on a server are finite, and when you start getting people using copious amount of diskspace and bandwidth, overall service quality for the rest of your customers diminishes.

I pay ~$200-250/month for each of my servers, which are from Layered Technologies and SoftLayer.
