I just sent my SSN to a real estate agent over email… no other choice?
I had to send my SSN and driver’s license number over email to a real estate agent for a credit check, since I am trying to rent a place across the country.
I cannot go there in person, and sending it through regular mail would cause unnecessary delays. I know there’s no use crying over spilled milk, but I can’t help but feel very uneasy about it. I know that the real estate agent is legit, belonging to an accredited real estate agency. I sent my information to HIM and only him. I am pretty sure that he himself will not compromise that information, but is there any way that others could get this info– since it traveled through webspace? I don’t really understand how email technically works, so I feel extra insecure about what I just did… Do you think this was okay? Opinions? Thanks.

does anyone have a webhost account with smartyhost? im having trouble!! heellp?
i made a new webhost account on smartyhost.com.au 2 days ago. i purchased a domain name and webspace. they sent me the email with all the ftp details and i entered it into ftp programs i use but somehow, i cannot connect. would anyone have possible answers for this? ive cut and pasted the info, typed it out and nothing! whats the deal?
note – ive have other accounts accounts on other webspace providers and i can connect fine with them
In some cases it takes longer for your domain to become in sync with the servers. If you purchased your domain and hosting from the same company I would think the nameservers would already be set, but I could be wrong. I would try using customer support.
