Hello Priya, your interesting question can be answered in various ways. But basically what is going to prevail are the economics and security factors at the moment of taking a decision. Without knowing much about your website purpose, there are some differences between chasing both platforms. Sharing an IP with other is an effective way of reducing costs., but the drawback is that you don’t know who your neighbors are, I mean who else shares that IP with your website. How about if your website IP is shared along with a porn site or a know spammer? Do you see the risk of that? Also, when your website IP is hosted in a shared server, there is always more the possibility of getting timeout errors like 404 page Not Found due to server load issues, this fact of server slowness can hurt your website from a financial point of view.

On the other hand, going solo, i.e. having a dedicated server, is must for corporations, schools, colleges, not to mention the military, because the nature of their business requires to have it. Having your own dedicated server is like you having a private highway for yourself: your cars are the only one authorized to run on it. Your expenses are going to be higher, but the benefits surpass the costs, for instance, you have more control on your dedicated server, high traffic loads can be manageable, and mostly there are no issues related to bandwidth. Priya, I hope my comments help you a little to clarify your smart question. Thanks.
